Student Privacy (PII)

Student Data Privacy Image

In 2014, the Louisiana Legislature passed ACT 677, which requires the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE) and the Local Education Authority (LEA) to provide information on their websites about the sharing of students’ personally identifiable information (PII). The law defines PII as information about an individual that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact or locate a single individual. The State Department of Education has negotiated contracts with companies that are on statewide contracts. You can view ta list of those companies by clicking here: DOE Contracts.

In addition to the state contracts, our district enters into agreements locally. This list is a dynamic list due to the nature of instruction.

The pages that follow will list the systems and services that the schools of the Ascension Parish School Board (APSB) are using and/or will utilize with some form of student data and/or Personally Identifiable Information (PII). The only purpose for APSB collecting or submitting student data in these systems is to improve student performance, to improve learning, and to create new educational opportunities for students. The APSB schools submit that data which is required to facilitate learning and allow our educators to accurately assess student performance to help our students. Every effort is made to secure this information and place strict demands on these vendors to maintain the security of this information.

If you have any questions about these systems and their uses, please contact our primary point of contact for these inquiries.
